李靜玟小時候在高雄外公家眷村長大，她從高中就投入校園自治，上大學也積極推廣校園白色恐怖歷史。她觀察到，許多同儕對「二二八」或「轉型正義」帶有一種本能的抵抗，認為這些辭彙被包裹成了「泛政治」的標籤，而台灣人對談政治有本能的抵抗，或許也源於家庭歷史經驗或是社會造成的創傷。
